The Canning House Art School

Service Description

This workshop is split into two sections; 1. Collaborative sculpture 2. Drawing the collaborative sculpture. The first part of the workshop invites you to freely explore a large variety of materials including - but not limited to - clay, found objects both man-made and natural, wire, and fabric. You will build, construct and add to a still-life setting, either working on one sculpture with a small group or creating something of your own. The second part of the workshop is where we’ll draw the setting we’ve created, working through a number of lightly-guided activities that move away from traditional/formal still-life drawing classes. Each week there will be slight changes to the collaborative sculpture part of this class, so stay tuned to find something that piques your interest. All materials and snacks are covered in the cost of the ticket! Plus, on Saturdays, there’ll be filter coffee and croissants. What you’ll learn: ● How to work intuitively ● How to get lost in the art-making process ● How to explore new materials as a way to form new ideas/inquiries ● How to draw what you see through several gently guided drawing activities This workshop is suitable for people with all skill levels and backgrounds. Feel like you can’t draw or you’re not creative? PERFECT, you don’t need to have any formal training or skills to participate in or enjoy this class. There’s no such thing as being good or bad at art/drawing, only different ways we respond to and interpret our world. Likewise, if you’re someone who already has art practice/formal skills, this workshop is a great way to ignite new inquiries or help push through creative block.
